Web & Graphics Design FAQ'S

I want a website or learn to digital paint, but don't understand a thing about it can you teach me?
I really don't offer tutoring as part of our design services. I have developed my skills after decades of working. My best advice is to find a college in your area that offers night classes. Or worst case, go to the book store and get one thousands of helpful books written just for learning the web. Most come with cd's that can teach you as you go.  What we offer is a unique combination of easy to use templates and stunning imagery, with good honest work and effort regarding the html for those of you who don't have the time or inclination for web work.

I don't know how to get a domain name
This is easy. godaddy.com is the cheapest and most user friendly service available. They will even talk to you on the telephone.

Why do you need a contract?
This clarifies exactly what work Indigo Horse will create for a client, how much can go into a page, what we do to the photos you provide, and what the charges will be. It also makes very clear that I cannot begin work until ALL CONTENT is at my office on CD. My job is to take your content and creatively construct a site. Any extras added to the project outside of the contract are at an additional rate. This contract also ensures when payments are due. No work will be released until payments are made in full. I will be happy to send you a copy. I wish I did not need a contract, but due to some past outstanding balances and direct plagiarism by "friends" of clients it has become a necessity.

What is a private vs. commercial licenses, and why do I need one?
This means you can use my graphics and or photography for your personal or business website only.  Indigo Horse retains full copyright regarding the resale and redistribution of these graphics and photos. Client will not redistribute any graphics or photography in any stock photography compilation or in the creation of templates for resale of any kind, or make  unauthorized copies, posting of pictures, logos, articles, websites or graphics. If you are a web design company, or you want this work for exclusive commercial purposes we offer   templates and graphics unique to you.  Indigo Horse retains the right to  resell graphics not purchased under commercial license. For questions regarding photography please click here.

How long does it take for you to make a website?
That depends on many factors, but usually it only takes anywhere from one week to two months depending on the complexity of the site.  First we need to have a deposit and contract in hand , and  all of your images and finished content before I can begin. This means no rough drafts, but the final version of what you wish to say! I have found the biggest delay is the client getting me the information needed to finish a site. I charge extra to write your content for you. We work on a first come, first paid basis. We reserve the right to decline unrealistic deadlines.

Why do you charge for drafting a concept for a logo or website template?
I figure by the time you contact me, you already like what you see. I devote a lot of time, thought, and research into every logo and template made. Depending on the work can I  spend anywhere from 1-2 hours on this process, or a couple of days.  In the past I have been contacted to create a demo of what I would make, only to have my idea taken somewhere else. That's not cool and is a waste of my time I do credit the cost of the draft towards the purchase of a custom logo or website. If a demo is not purchased within 30 days, I retain the right to sell it to someone else. If a client needs more time in the creation of a project, just keep me informed and I will be happy to work with you.

What do you mean you will not alter any animal?
Many people have approached me to make their horse, dog or goat look better STRUCTURALLY than they really are. I just cannot do that as I feel this is fraudulent. I will happily brighten up the white, or add hair to a tail, but nothing more.
